I recently watched the new Pixar film Luca on Disney+. I didn't quite know what to expect, but was excited from the trailers as it looked like a fun time. I think Pixar hit nail on the head once again with this film. It's a beautiful, small, contained story about the blossoming friendship between two sea monster young boys in an Italian seaside town. The stakes aren't crazy high, the villain is just a plain jerk with no fancy redemption, and the story and message are incredibly pure. This movie is a wonderful time and one that I've already rewatched with no hesitation. Knowing that the writer/director based the movie on his own childhood friendship makes the story that much sweeter. This movie just goes to show that things don't always have to be dire consequences to showcase a powerful story.
