This was a movie that I've wanted to see since I first saw the trailer, as I love racing movies and this looked like a really fun time. I initially thought this was going to be some dumb racing movie. From the first moments however, I was surprised by how much heart was in this film. There are the obvious racing metaphors and the like in emotional moments throughout, but the overall story is very much centered around two men: Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles played by Matt Damon and Christian Bale respectively. Despite stellar performances all around, these two carry much of the weight of this movie. Everything from their chemistry on screen to their performances invests viewers in the world and makes one want them to succeed. Every struggle, trial, and tribulation along the way was completely sold by the two leads. There were some awkward writing moments where it was easy to see when a quick line was thrown in to make something come back around later, however these were fairly few and far between. Overall this was a very enjoyable movie and, at the end of the day, what more can you ask of a movie like this?
