Every time the holidays come around I love to watch Christmas movies. It doesn't matter if I've seen a movie a hundred times or if it's something new but worthwhile. The ability for most of these movies to emulate the Christmas spirit is what I'm looking for. Lately it seems like there's been a lot of movies that have been pretty standard or even formulaic in this genre. Klaus is absolutely not that. Klaus stands apart as more than just a fantastic Christmas movie, it might just be one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Beautiful animation, a fantastic score, a heartwarming story, this one has it all. There have certainly been movies that can bring a tear to my eye, but this movie was able to elicit sobs of joy at three different moments from either joy or just how beautifully a moment was presented. It was a pleasure to watch this movie, and has easily become a new staple of the holiday season for me. I'll just need to remember some tissues.
