This was a movie I hadn't heard of and probably never would have. However, I got the "opportunity" to watch this and took it. This movie was proposed to me as one of Tom Cruise's earliest works. I thought that alone made it worth a look. I was further intrigued when I saw the opening title sequence and saw that Ridley Scott had directed it. I was suddenly ready for something of the same quality as Alien, Blade Runner, and more. What I got however, was a super high fantasy, seemingly low budget, acid trip of a movie. By the end of the film, I wasn't sure what I had just seen. There were elements that certainly felt reminiscent of Scott's other films, but overall it just didn't quite feel good. Most of the movie felt claustrophobic and disorienting. Like a good fantasy novel that's had several parts of it cut out. I learned that even great directors can have some serious fall-throughs. This was further proven by the fact that after later research, Legend had come out after Alien and Blade Runner.
