The Latest Rewrite
As those of you who have been following my posts may know, I've been working back through some of my screenplays to get their next drafts put out. I feel as though even if I make very minor changes, it's overall for the best. This is an industry where every time you write, you tend to do it just that much better. I am running into one interesting aspect of these rewrites that I wasn't quite expecting: I'm admittedly a little bored at times. With my latest rewrite, I still like the story and there's a lot of moments that really hit how I remember them, however, there are some aspects of the story that just aren't clicking for me. I'm not sure if it's me or the story, but this pass is more of a formatting pass than an altogether story pass. Maybe at some point along the story, I'll get a better sense of what might be missing, but then again not every script has to be a winner. That's why writers keep writing, with the idea that even your worst work is better than no work at all.
